This week has had a variety of important events. The start of Lent for Christians, Ramadan for Muslims, Valentines’ Day and many more. Among those events is the Lunar New Year, the start of the new year in accordance with the lunar calendar. Shoreline commemorated the celebration with a lineup of events hosted by several clubs, mostly those which have a focus on East-Asian cultures.
On Feb. 18, the International Club, as well as other associated clubs including the Taiwanese Student Association (TSA) and the Chinese Culture Club hosted a Lunar New Year nightmarket. Attendees were able to take part in activities, snack on delicacies such as chinese dumplings and egg rolls, or watch student performances that took place towards the end of the event.
The night market was one of the three events dedicated to commemorating Lunar New year. The TSA and the Hong Kong Students Association(HKSA) had an event the day before on Feb 17, and an upcoming Lunar Fest is being held by the International Club.
