Small Ensemble Recital

12:30-1:30 p.m., March 16; 800 Building (Room 818)

SCC’s talented music students have been handpicked by SCC musicians and teachers for the Small Ensemble Recital, a “talent showcase” that allows dedicated music enthusiasts to show what they’ve learned in front of their peers. The recital is free and allows the students practice performing in front of a crowd.

Piano Juries

2:30-4:30 p.m., March 16; 800 Building (Room 818)

Select piano students will be performing a specific piece in front of piano jurors for a chance at a good evaluation. The students who receive the “Outstanding Performance” award will be invited to perform at an honors recital. Alongside the piano juries, the instrumental and private voice juries will be free to the public.

“The Laramie Project” Production

7:30-10:30 p.m., March 16-17; 1600 Building

The final showings of “The Laramie Project” will be on the last weekend before finals, March 16-17. “The Laramie Project” is based on the real events surrounding the death of openly gay university student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyo., and the interviews collected from the New York Tectonic Theater Company about Shepard. General admission is $16, SCC student tickets are $10 and non-SCC students, seniors and staff tickets are $12.

Instrumental Juries

10:30-11:30 a.m., March 20; 800 Building (Room 815)

Students who have been taking private instrumental lessons will be performing their solo pieces in front of a music faculty jury for their final exam. The students who receive the “Outstanding Performance” award will be invited to perform at an honors recital.

Private Voice Juries

12:30-2:30 p.m., March 20; 1600 Building

Private vocal students will be performing their final exams in front of a jury of vocal instructors. The students who receive the “Outstanding Performance” award will be invited to perform at an honors recital.

Vocal Performance

5:30-9:30 p.m., March 20; 800 Building (Room 818)

The voice class will be performing their final production for the quarter. All of the students have chosen a solo to sing. There will also be small ensembles invited to play. The performance is free and encourages students to support new singers who will be on stage for the first time.
