BOO! Are you scared yet? Shaking in your boots? Frozen in fear? Well, you should be, because we’re about to get to two straight months of Christmas music.

Happy Halloween, everyone. The month dedicated to B-rated horror movies, pumpkin-spiced everything, culturally indifferent costumes and unpredictable, inevitable Washington weather creeps ever closer.

The Ebbtide is just getting started, however. We’re on our second issue out of five for the quarter and the crew is starting to round into form. 

Last issue featured a span of different articles from new contributors and veterans alike. Zoe Plattner’s “Driving the Climate Conversation” Op-Ed discussed Seattle’s latest environmental protest and the state’s policies, Juan Páez’s “Cyber Breach” article tackled the notorious online phishing emails that still plague SCC inboxes and Ed Strong’s “Setting New Goals” zeroed in on the improvement of our women’s soccer team.

In this upcoming issue our new reporters have hit the ground running, from Morena Silvestroni’s Op-Ed on cultural appropriation to Aidan Mordy’s news coverage on the typhoon in Japan and the possibility of a similar catastrophe hitting closer to home.

If you’re looking for something more on the fun side, check out Monika Likhtharenko and Nova Clark’s detailed and dastardly Halloween flicks piece. Maybe you’ll find a movie to cuddle up to, or stay the hell away from.

Safe to say, we’re still looking out for on-campus coverage as well as off-campus news that affects our readership. The Ebbtide also welcomes submissions of all kinds, which can come in the form of letters to the editor, corrections or even article submissions.
