Farming of the Future: Feeding Everyone in the 21st Century
The Global Affairs Center will host an event titled “Farming of the Future: Feeding Everyone in the 21st Century.” The audience will discuss everyday images of agriculture, impact of rising demands for locally grown food and climate change on food security, and alternative agricultural methods that are more eco-friendly. Nicholas Begley,
SCC class of 2014 and a graduate student at the University of Washington-Bothell, will serve as the panelist of this discussion. This event is free for the public.

Halloween Dance Party
All SCC students are invited to the annual Halloween dance party which will be hosted by the International Education department along with the Arts and Entertainment Board. There will be a photo booth, mummy game, raffle drawing and costume competition. This event is free of charge, but all students are required to present their ID at the entrance. For security purposes, all bag and coats will be checked, and no alcohol is allowed in the location.

NaNoWriMo Kick Off
National Novel Writing Month is kicking off for all of Seattle with an event right here on campus. The event is all ages and will host a photo booth, prizes, a costume contest, and more prizes. Guests are encouraged to bring snacks or desserts -leftover Halloween candy, anyone? It is suggested that attendees bring a laptop, notebook, or phone to start their writing. Character sheets, world building resources, and stickers to keep track of the days you hit your word count will be provided as well.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)
The SCC library is going to be a location for the National Novel Writing Month write-in. Students are encouraged to participate in this event by coming to the write-ins, receiving a tutorial on how to do an outline, and doing a Nano Word sprint, which is an activity to write as much as you can in 20 minutes. This event was made to encourage everyone to tell their own stories through writing.

Counseling services is providing awareness events on various issues as a continuation of the ones they’ve already held this year on time management, test anxiety, sexual consent, and alcohol. Talent Show Auditions
Hear ye, hear ye! The Shoreline Community College talent show is coming up. Auditions will run 12-2 p.m. on Nov.
2 through Nov. 4 in the Fishbowl (PUB 9202). Sign-up sheets will be up on the third floor of the PUB (9000 Building) at the front desk of the Student Life Center. Talents in stand-up, traditional dance, poetry and most other talents will be considered for the final show. It is encouraged that a commitment to attending rehearsals be
