Jazz Club Trip

Jeff Kashiwa, one of the heads of the music department, wants a mini-grant to take one of the student jazz bands to Alaska. The jazz band would perform for schools run by Native American tribes and go to museums. This would be the revival of a yearly trip that the band took before COVID-19 hit.

ASG was concerned about the amount of money it would take to finance this trip. Kashiwa expects 22 people to come on this trip; however, 22 people may not sign up. Because of this point there was a long discussion about if not enough people signed up and also what the money would be used for and if the mini-grant should be tabled. In the end, the mini-grant was amended from $25,000 to $22,000 and then approved.

Hong Kong Student Association Hot Pot Night

The Hong Kong Student Association requested a mini-grant to buy food for an upcoming hot pot night. When asked why their documentation for the mini-grant was out of date the student association responded that their club leader had left unexpectedly and did not give the other club members access to any of the documents concerning the mini-grant. Although the budget was messy the grant was amended from $340 to $300 it was then approved.
