A&E Calendar – Vol 54 Issue 11, April 19, 2019

Haiku Contest

April 15-29; SCC Library

It’s National Poetry Month and you can put your words to the test. What was the first job you ever had? Turn your experience into a haiku and send it to [email protected] for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to SCC’s bookstore.

Spoken Word Poetry and Film Showing

3:30-5:30 p.m., April 25; Black Box Theater

Don’t just read it — hear it. All students are invited to this dynamic evening of spoken word poetry. If you wish to perform your own work, arrive ten minutes early to reserve a time slot. Afterwards, stick around for a screening of the 2015 documentary “Poetry of Witness,” a story of six poets who used their craft to immortalize personal recollections of war and suffering.
