SunFest 2016
SCC will hold the annual SunFest event from 12:30-3 p.m. on May 25 and 26. On Wednesday, May 25, there will be food trucks, a limbo dancing contest, a pie eating contest, a lip syncing battle, and performances from Acoustic Guitar Club, Ukulele Club and Just Dance Club. On the second day, May 26, there will be food tents, a carnival and laser tag.
Visionary Science Fiction Contest winners announced
The four student winners of the first SCC Visionary Science Fiction Writing Contest have been announced.
Stories were submitted in two categories: shorts of 900 to 3000 words and short shorts of 300 to 900 words. Submissions were supposed explore themes of social justice, intersections of identity and injustice.
In the short story category, Brandon M. Herbert took first place with his story “Saturation.” Stephanie Olsen was the runner-up with her story “Replication Costs.”
In the short short category, first place went to Chris Harvey for his story “The Cost of Hunger.” Felix Were was the runner-up with his story “Paradise in Hell.”
The winners’ stories were published as collection by the English Department.

Transfer shock
A panel of Shoreline international student alumni will come to SCC and discuss the challenges of transferring, housing, adjusting to a new university and how to pick the right university. Students are free to ask questions about the challenges and successes of transferring. The event will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27 in PUB room 9208.
