The Link Light Rail, a rapid transit system serving Seattle residents, offers faster and more convenient transportation to major areas in the city, including the University of Washington, Downtown Seattle, and the International District/Chinatown.
A recent extension of the Link Light Rail has benefited thousands of people living north of Seattle. As of Aug. 30, four new stations were opened to the public: Shoreline South/148th Station, Shoreline North/185th Station, Mountlake Terrace Station, and Lynnwood Station.
Additionally, the fare system has been updated. The price is now a flat rate of $3.25 for all passengers over the age of 18, replacing the previous variable fare of $2.25 to $3.50 based on travel distance. Riders no longer need to “tap on” and “tap off” when using the light rail.
But wait, there’s more good news for Shoreline Community College students, faculty, and visitors.
If you’ve ever found bus routes confusing or would like to ride a more private vehicle to the Shoreline North/185th Station, you’re in luck! Shoreline Community College now offers daily shuttle services from campus to the North/185th Station, providing a convenient and hassle-free method of transportation.
These shuttles run Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (excluding holidays). You can call the driver at 206-759-1768 to request a pick-up.
Scooters, bicycles, and other large items are prohibited on the daily campus shuttle. Moreover, only the shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible; the shuttle vans are unfortunately inaccessible. For more information regarding the shuttles, email [email protected]
Andy Pham, a third-year computer science student at Shoreline, said he frequently utilizes the Shoreline South/148th Station. He commented, “I think it’s really convenient … I usually go to Northgate Station because I work out there at 24 Hour Fitness.”
For Pham, taking the light rail is necessary to get anywhere in Seattle. He described any means of transportation from the college to the light rail station as “the most convenient thing ever.”
Cameron Mann, a second-year physics student, said he’s “super in support” of the Light Link Rail. “I really like public transportation, and it makes it way more convenient to go to Seattle. I use it to go to concerts, and I also have friends down in Seattle.”
In tandem with the recent extension, several bus routes have been modified:
- Bus 333: service between Mountlake Terrace Station and Shoreline South/148th Station; stops at Shoreline Community College.
- Bus 331: service between Shoreline Community College and Kenmore; now makes an additional stop in Mountlake Terrace Station.
- Bus 345: no longer services Shoreline Community College.
