The Associated Student Government (ASG) is holding board meetings through Zoom for the rest of the spring quarter. As usual, meetings are held every other monday, and students are welcome to join to voice concerns or speak to their representatives. This meeting was held on June 1 and was the last meeting of spring quarter. Budget and Finance Officer Krizzia Sunio began the meeting by giving ASG’s mini grant budget report: $36,347.55 out of $75,000.00

Fee Changes

The ASG board is looking to implement some changes to the fees they charge students that fund different activities. The Services and Activities fees, which pays for a variety of student organizations and activities like the Multicultural Center, DECA, the student choral group and the Ebbtide, would be raised from $9.90 per credit to $11 per credit. The Board of Trustees is yet to approve the raise.

ASG is also looking to suspend the SCOF fee, a 1-time quarterly fee of $34 that funds services like the shuttle and the discounted ORCA cards. However, Director of Student Leadership and Residential Life Sundi Musnicki specified that while the ASG board could vote to suspend the SCOF fee for summer and fall quarters, she was not sure if that was technically allowed, and that it was likely that if the ASG board wanted to suspend the fee, they would have to either suspend it for the entire year or not at all. Musnicki also noted that SCOF currently has a healthy fund reserve.

The board approved their intent to try to suspend the fee, and lower it in case they can’t suspend it for the next two quarters.
