The Associated Student Government (ASG) holds board meetings at 3 p.m. every alternate week on Mondays in Room 1010. These meetings are open to the SCC community. Students are encouraged to attend, participate and share their perspectives.

Club Recognitions

Chess Club was approved by ASG. Chess Club will be meeting at 2:30-4 p.m. every other Wednesday starting Nov. 23 in the back of the library to the left of the math lab. Students do not need to know how to play chess to come and join. Students play chess together and teach newer players how to play. Students can borrow chessboards from the library. When there are more experienced chess players, they will decide to host tournaments.

ASG approved Art Club. The Art Club will include activities like celebrating all things that are art related. No matter what the skill set, anyone is interested in visual arts. This will include painting and their purpose would be to explore art. They will meet every third Friday in Room 2068 in the visual art center. A possible future event is painting pianos on campus. For murals they will possibly need to purchase some paint.

Mini Grants

DECA requests yet another mini grant for $250. They plan to go over communication skills with a Toastmaster speaker. Every meeting they will request refreshments and food which takes place from 3-5 p.m. They will be playing ice breaker games because they gain new members each meeting. Their representative couldn’t quite explain what the miscellaneous section is that is itemized. As a program, they don’t receive an exact budget from club budgets. In winter, they are planning on establishing a budget so they don’t have to keep getting mini grants.

The next ASG meeting is scheduled for Dec. 5.
