The Associated Student Government (ASG) is the voice of the student body. They run events and govern student clubs. ASG meets bi-weekly at 3 p.m. on Mondays in Room 1010 the next meeting is April 10, 2023.

DECA
DECA has qualified for the International Career Development Conference. The competition will take place on April 14 in Florida. The qualifying members of DECA, the advisors and DECA’s leadership are the only people going to the competition. DECA hopes that they will do well and bring honor to the school. To get the money to go to this competition DECA applied for a mini-grant. The ASG amended and then approved the mini grant of $14,414.

TriHex club
TriHex club requested a grant of $333 for its members to bond with each other through an escape room event. The student council acknowledged that doing an escape room would be beneficial for the students of the club to learn collaboration and decision making skills. In the end, the ASG approved this reasonable grant.

UX Café
Several students want to help the library make a better website. The UX Café will do this by forming a club that interviews students about what could make the library’s website better and improve the user experience. They will then have someone else implement the changes. The club was approved by the ASG. If interested, email SCC librarian Lauren Bryant. Lauren Valentino Bryant <[email protected]>
