Did you miss dances due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

Student Life staff has been planning the Neon Night dance since before the Covid-19 pandemic. Events this quarter have been dancing with the participation of students; on Feb. 24th there will be a dance taking place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Main Dining Room of the PUB.

According to Caela Smith, program manager of Student Life, “Neon night was originally scheduled to take place on March 5, 2020.” With a three-year gap, the event is officially underway. Many students that graduated high school in 2021 and 2020 had similar experiences with events like the senior and junior prom being cancelled due to covid.

“At the time, we had no idea what to expect from Covid and lockdown…” said Smith.

As the name suggests, there will be a black light. Thus, the clothing colors recommended are white, neon colors, or anything that glows. There will be some free glowing accessories at the event as well. Along with dancing, the Pop Dance Society will have a dance performance.

Student life will provide a shuttle to and from the e-line so transportation can be a little easier for the students. There will also be a Neon Prep Party in the 7000 building in the great room starting at 5:00 p.m. It will be a fun experience for students who want to get ready together.

And for those who may not like dancing and dressing up, there will be pizza and refreshments. Alongside a photo booth and possible games, there’s truly an activity for everyone to enjoy themselves.
