The Associated Student Government (ASG) typically holds meetings from 3-5 p.m. every other Monday in the Boardroom of the 1000 Building. The second meeting of the quarter was on April 29 in Rm. 9201. Students may attend if they would like to meet their representatives or voice an issue. In addition, students may also meet with their representatives in the Student Life Office on the third floor of the PUB on most weekdays. The next meeting will be held on May 13.
Mini Grants
The Ebbtide
SCC’s student-run newspaper, the Ebbtide, requested a mini grant for a new printer that is used to print large “spreads” (mock pages of the final product that the team edits on their production days). The current printer is failing and requires frequent repairs. According to Sundi Munsiki, previous Ebbtide advisor Patti Jones requested printer funds from the Tech Review Committee (TRC) in December 2018, but it did not fit the budget.

Student Life
The 12-year-old black-and-white printer in the Student Life Office is on its last legs. This mini grant request was for money to replace it. The printer is used by the entire staff of Student Life on a daily basis for numerous projects. A previous request was made to the TRC for funds but their budget could not cover the cost.

Swimming Club
The Swimming Club requested money to have a picnic on May 18 at Richmond Beach, including food for 30 students. The picnic would be a way for the swimming club and SCC students to celebrate the beginning of summer. ASG Tech Affairs Officer Isaac Tchao was concerned that the small amount of food would not be enough for 30 people.

Project Pride
Project Pride requested a mini grant for a “Lavender Graduation,” a ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of graduating LGBTQ+ members and allies the highlight the differences they have made at SCC.
The second part of the request is to fund the third annual Pride Prom, which is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ people and allies to participate in an activity that has traditionally been aimed toward heterosexual identities. There will be a drag show and a photo booth.
There were a few suggestions from the ASG board to reduce the price of the budget. One recommendation was to obtain utensils from the SCOFF committee and another was to reuse string lights that have been left over from other large events. Club Affairs Officer Eneya Kwesele suggested spending a little less on food.

Sunfest and the Amazing Race
Sunfest will be an on-campus event hosted by the Arts and Entertainment Board. The event will include carnival games, tie-dye, musical performances, free lunch and deserts, karaoke and a petting zoo.
The request would also fund the second-annual Amazing Race, where campus clubs compete against one another in a series of challenges. There will be prizes, food and games. A suggestion was made by Kwesele to make the race available to anyone that may want to represent a club even if they are not in one.
