Shoreline Community College’s bookstore, where students have purchased textbooks, merchandise, notebooks, and other school supplies at the lowest level of the PUB (Building 9000) for years, has announced that it will be closing in the winter quarter of 2025.
Tom Wormstedt, the manager of the bookstore since August of 2023, cited failing profit as the reason for the shuttering of the on-campus bookstore. He stated that the business’ contract with the company Swalett is also ending.
Every product in the bookstore with the Shoreline logo will be discounted in an effort to sell them before closing.
Wormstedt said the on-campus bookstore reopening in the future is unlikely. He described, “the plan is to go virtual, so all the books will be fulfilled by an out-of-state warehouse.”
Now is the time for students to peruse the on-campus bookstore before it closes next quarter.
