“Peter and the Starcatcher”

Peter Pan was not always named “Peter.” Have you ever wondered what led to the creation of your favorite legend? If so, this play is not to be missed.

The story of Peter Pan’s early orphaned days is finally brought to life in this series of shows by the SCC theater department.

Themes of love, home and friendship are expressed by the familiar faces of fairytale favorites as they present this magical story of acceptance in the face of human differences.

Tickets are priced at $10 for SCC students and children 5+ and $16 for non-SCC students, seniors 62+ and SCC staff. For everyone else, tickets are $20.

“Macbeth” Auditions

3-4 p.m., Dec. 4; SCC Theater

Test your thespian skills for a chance to appear in this masterpiece from the playwright who started it all. Auditions for one of the most well-known plays in history, Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” are up and running this week.

If you are an avid theater participant, or just someone who wants to start their theater endeavors with a bang, don’t miss the chance to audition for this timeless tale of power and politics.

Fall Choir Concert

7:30-9:30 p.m, Dec. 6.; First Lutheran Church of Richmond Beach

The final product of SCC’s Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers comes to a thrilling end in this year’s quarter-end concert. This year’s common thread between songs incorporates the theme of social justice and range from poignant ballads to booming anthems — a blend sure to collide with a resounding energy evoking a hopeful urge to want to make a difference.

Concert Band Performance: ‘Tis the Season

7:30-10:30 p.m., Dec. 11; Shorecrest High School Performing Arts Center

The concert band joins together for a festive finale to their quarter-long efforts. They, along with some guest artists yet to be announced, will be performing pieces by celebrated composers Aaron Copland, Alfred Reed, David Holsinger and Eric Whitacre.

Come support the sound of SCC as it rings true to the season’s holiday cheer.

Instrumental and Vocal Juries

10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Dec. 10; Music Building, Rm. 818

Join your peers in the music building’s choir room to experience two shows that will offer a sampling of performances curated by the talented instrumentalists and singers of SCC. They will be presenting a unique selection of music guaranteed to help the quarter end on a high note. Audience members are welcome to come and go as they please, as the event will feature a 30-minute intermission.

Voice Class Recital

7-9:30 p.m., Dec. 10; Music Building, Rm. 818

A slightly more formal atmosphere than the earlier juries welcomes students enrolled in SCC’s voice class to perform the songs they have practiced all quarter long. Stop by for the chance to hear some of your favorite tunes sung by your peers as they take turns in spotlight.
