The Lily Project/Proyecto De-Lirio
Oct.1-Jan.11; Administration Building Lobby
SCC’s new art show features the works from Mexican studio, Taller De-Lirio. Married artist couple Esteban Silva and Tania Dominguez want to bring attention to the creeping death of Lake Patzcuaro near Huecorio, Mexico.
The water hyacinth, a highly invasive aquatic plate native to the Amazon basin, is destroying the lake. Through Taller De-Lirio, the couple has been using the plant as paper for the base of their art and have been sharing it through their community to bring awareness of the lake’s destruction.
The exhibit in the SCC gallery features the 2016 project called “SOS for Lake Patzcuaro,” featuring a number of painters and engravers Taller De-Lirio invited.
The show will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Mon-Fri.
