ASG ELECTION RUNOFF
The results of the presidential election are out.
A total of 530 student votes were received. Denish Oleke received 237 votes, while Brian Dean Tansil and Long “Harry” Phan got 206 and 86 respectively.
After a two-week voting period, the Associated Student Government (ASG) announced a runoff election for Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17 between the two candidates with the most votes, Oleke and Tansil.
According to the ASG bylaws, a candidate is required to get a “majority of 50 percent plus one” of ballots to win the election, otherwise a runoff election will be needed.
Since Oleke only obtained 45 percent of the ballots, the new election with only the top two candidates will ensure that one candidate gets more than half of the votes.
Students are able to vote again with their student ID and PIN on the ASG website https://app.shoreline.edu/StudentElections/ at polling stations on campus or through their own laptops.
The polling will be closed at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
