Every quarter (excluding summer), Shoreline Community College hosts a Club Fair in the main dining room of the PUB building. Two hours long, the event offers the college’s many clubs the opportunity to represent themselves, their goals, and their activities. 17 clubs were present on Oct. 23, ranging from interest-related clubs like the Art Club, Pickleball Club, and UX/UI Cafe to ethnic-based clubs like the Japanese Student Association, Hong-Kong Student Association, Indonesian Student Association.
The goal is not only for clubs to flourish in number but for students to discover sources of inspiration and belongingness. Tens and perhaps hundreds of students visited the Club Fair; the UX/UI Cafe club alone, a club made of only a few members beforehand, had around 13-15 students sign up to join the club.
Students learned about the clubs by speaking with representatives and examining the trifold boards present at table. Some clubs, such as the Japanese Club, exhibited cultural items and decorated their trifolds with meaningful symbols and landmarks. Others showcased fun activities they’ve organized in the past to entice prospective members.
If you missed this year’s Club Fair, not to worry — as aforementioned, every quarter (excluding summer) brings another Club Fair to attend and discover the wonderful clubs that inhabit Shoreline Community College.
