On Jan. 14, the Winter Welcome engaged and excited students in the quiet dining room of the PUB (Building 9000). From 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., more than 60 students attended and enjoyed the food, games, music, and karaoke.
“I expected all students as well as new students to come in and then interact, socialize with them,” said event organizer Jennifer Machiso. “The unique element incorporated in this event is the beauty of Multicultural. Our students are from diverse backgrounds, so I made sure to include music from all sides of the world, just making it comfortable for everybody to enjoy the party.”
According to Danny from Program Assistance, what inspires him to do this event is his recognition of the massive opportunity to promote the work that he does and his pleasure in hosting and speaking to people. Danny chose the second week of school because he understood that a lot of people were trying to find their way to classes and get settled in. “Most importantly, I expect everyone to have a good time and for us to collectively just laugh and enjoy ourselves,” he said.
Lei Lei, a student, described the event as a “really good experience,” highlighting the music and the opportunity to chat with friends. “It was really fun. I liked the food a lot,” she added enthusiastically.
Ariane appreciated the warm and inclusive vibe of the event. “Everybody was welcoming, and I got some great food,” said the student. She enjoyed meeting new people at her table while spending time with friends, noting that the event was “really good.”
Crystal, another student, was particularly impressed by the organization and outreach of the event. “I loved how club leaders invited us to join their clubs—it was very inviting.” She also praised the room’s layout and emphasized her eagerness to explore all the clubs.
