The Shoreline Community College community welcomes Cameron Dollar, the new interim athletic director, to campus. After former athletic director, Steve Eskridge left, Derek Levy filled in the role while the school searched for an AD that would bring the right passion and experience to the job.
Dollar checks every box that SCC was looking for. His resume details his long track record of commitment to sports coaching and involvement at the high school and collegiate levels. According to Derek Levy in an email announcing his hiring, “Cameron comes to us most recently from Franklin High School in Seattle, where he was Athletic Director and Co-Commissioner of Basketball, overseeing 16 sports. His prior experience includes head coach for Seattle University’s Men’s Basketball team, Assistant Coach for the University of Washington’s Men’s Basketball team, and success at the highest level as a collegiate basketball player.
With the transition to Dollar, a new awareness and support of our school’s sports program can be built through his leadership. He already has a plan set to attempt to expand the popularity of sports at our school, part of this includes, “Expanding our footprint in social media [and] expanding our footprint and awareness around the community”, according to Dollar.
As part of the North West Athletic Conference (NWAC), Shoreline Community College has six teams including women’s basketball, men’s baseball, and women’s volleyball. All six of Shoreline’s teams could benefit from new interest and involvement that Dollar will bring.
