A ferry ride away from downtown Seattle, Bainbridge Island floats in the Puget Sound Basin. The Island’s downtown is within walking distance of the ferry port. Encapsulating local artworks, shopping stores, restaurants, and enchanting cafes.
Before walking over to downtown, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) is a must to stop by. Covering rotational exhibitions by local artists. Current Exhibitions would last until June 2nd covering Art Grice: Inquiries, the loud yet fun display from Kathy Ross: Serious Fun, Kumi Krof’s heritage-rich pieces, Gary Groves’ Retrospective themed pieces, and several permanent art collections owned by BIMA.
The next destination would be a brisk walk towards the shophouses in downtown Bainbridge. Amongst the stores, stood a little shop called “Dana’s”, featuring Pacific Northwest Merchandise. “The Island is so much different than Seattle,” Vanessa Bella Octavia explained, “It’s a tiny town, but I love how calm the town is.”
Another clothing recommended clothing store would be Sweet Deal, which is also located downtown. Sweet Deal clothing store promises discounted prices and youthful pieces. The store features eccentric styles and Bainbridge’s touch of merchandise within it.
Following that would be the Bainbridge Arts and Crafts. A non-profit gallery featuring works by young artists from the schools around the area. Variants of clay sculptures and brightly colored portraits are showcased against the walls and on white pedestals. Octavia appreciates how “this Island loves to showcase the art… we found 4 different art stores which are all incredibly pretty.”
Walking deeper into the Island, right by the port of docked ships stood the Pegasus Coffee shop. This overgrown cozy spot serves croissants, hot drinks, and an incredible ambiance to sit back and finish up your reading materials. One might choose to take up their hot cocoa to see the docks just behind the rustic building. Another student, Ryan Fayyazz Ardityo noted how “vintage” the coffee place felt, considering it as one of his favorite spots on the Island.
