The 21st of April seemed like an ordinary Monday for most students, however, students may quickly realize that the FOSS 5000 building was closed, and the cause is none other than a clogged toilet.
According to Kimberlee Clark, the Director of Facilities at Shoreline Community College, the toilets on the first floor started to backflow water, which caused the toilet water to start flooding all over the first floor. This led to the whole building being closed for two days for maintenance, causing a disruption for both students and staff. Additionally, the blockage was caused by a mixture of roots blocking the main pipes and a mass of cleaning wipes being flushed down. In short, this incident most certainly could’ve been avoided, and to prevent further incidents, students should refrain from flushing foreign objects that don’t go down easily.
