In a sign of winter’s true arrival, SCC was forced to close campus last Tuesday due to snow and ice. The college also opened two hours late on Monday and Wednesday in addition to closing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Conditions do not appear to be like last year,” SCC President Cheryl Roberts wrote in an email dated Jan. 14. “The concern is the persistent low temperatures and icy conditions along with the snow.”
In response to the cancelations, the deadline to receive a refund for withdrawing from a class was extended to Jan. 17.
It is not immediately clear what resources are available for students who have fallen behind on coursework as a result of missing class. Roberts referred questions on the topic to Vice President for Student Learning Phillip King, who did not respond to emailed request for comment.
The snow has melted and the campus has resumed its normal operating hours.
