The Computer Science Club hosted a tour of the Microsoft office that is located in Redmond on Friday May 10th. Luckily enough, Microsoft’s headquarters is located in Washington as well, around 20 minutes from SCC. It was previously announced on the 19th April in a computer science meeting club that a sign-up for this event was required. Those who signed up went by bus from the campus to the Microsoft office.
“There were actually a lot of people asked about whether we can have an office tour. So, because there was a large demand — I tried asking around people I know if we could visit their office. Microsoft turns out to be the only office that can accommodate a larger amount of people. Other companies could only do limited numbers, so that’s why we decided on Microsoft,” explained the President of the Computer Science club, Rachel Prijatna.
When students finally arrived at the office, they walked towards the Microsoft visitor center and gift shop where they looked at gifts and the showcase center. Afterwards a Microsoft employee, Natasya Juliette who is a software engineer at Microsoft, showed us around the Microsoft Office building area.
Juliette then gave us a tour of her office building. She explained her role in the Microsoft office and what Microsoft offers its employees in terms of their working environment and benefits.
Overall, the Microsoft Office is helpful to those who plan to work or intern in the company. The building’s interior is a really nice aesthetic and has a great atmosphere for the employees.
“The tour has been informative and engaging. We’ve been able to learn about the different sections of the office as well as their inner mechanisms, like how different teams within the office work together to create various projects. Aside from that, It is interesting to see their daily workflow and working environment,” a member of the computer science club, Mackenzie Joe Gunawan said.
