A field trip was hosted by the International Shoreline Leadership (ISL), to the Woodland Park Zoo on May 25. A sign up was required beforehand in order to get free access to the zoo.
Tony Hung, a member of the ISL, explained, “why we’ve decided to have this trip is because we want students to learn more about the zoo.”
The Woodland Zoo covers 92 acres, with multiple areas containing animals housed in different environments based on the countries they originated from. Over 800 animals and 250 species, many of which are endangered, are housed within the zoo.
The zoo also includes a couple of safe interactions with animals. One example is a petting zoo, where staff allowed us to interact with the goats and cows.
“We want students to explore the zoo in Seattle along with having them to connect with each other and to explore more about the environment. What I mean by connecting is that they’re bonding together. We’re going to come here, hang out with your friends and meet up with new friends. Other than that, to also learn more about the zoo so that we could have a relief day after doing really stressed exams.” Tony said regarding the trip.
Whether you go here with friends or family, the Woodland Park Zoo is a must-see destination. Even though it may not be for everyone, it’s definitely worth visiting.
