As the freezing winter quarter began, Student Life hosted a welcoming week from Jan. 6 to Jan. 10 to help ease students into the new year. A variety of breakfast meals, including donuts, muffins and drinks, were provided daily from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
“It’s the first week of school, and people are still coming in from their holiday, so it’s good to host a welcoming week to help them adjust to the new school year,” said Juan David, an Associated Student Government (ASG) representative.
On Monday, a swag table and hot beverage bar helped students battle the cold weather and offered Shoreline merchandise through a spin-the-wheel game. On the following day, there was a Crafts and Snacks table provided where students could customize and bring home their own snow globe as well as complimentary snacks.
A karaoke event dazzled students on Wednesday afternoon. Students got the chance to sing their favorite song and eat complimentary fried chicken, dumplings, and french fries. Cake and other sweet desserts with the dean of Shoreline and other administrators concluded welcoming week on Thursday.
Jacky Lee, a second-year student majoring in computer science, said they “met a lot of people and had fun. I really enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to having more events like this.”
