Everything tends to sound more valuable when it’s being auctioned to the highest bidder.
Well, get ready to throw out your bid, as the SCC campus is going to be holding a silent auction soon.

Currently, the gallery in the 1000 Building is displaying ceramic cup pieces made by students from the Clay Club as well as contributions by local artists.

For this project, local artists, the One Cup Coffee Company, faculty and students collaborated to celebrate partnership within our community. This silent auction will actually be moving toward SCC’s benefit; the proceeds from this auction will go towards local non-profits and also student organizations on campus.

One Cup is a local company that not only functions to serve coffee but also as a charity: 15 percent of its profits are donated to various local charities.

The company was developed by Christian Kar. For those of you who do not know him, Kar became rich by developing numerous coffee shop drive-thrus in the Washington area.

After converting to Christianity in 2001, Kar began questioning his business and goals He no longer felt joy and ended up realizing that he only felt happy when he was helping people out. That’s when he thought of a better way he could do things and so he developed the One Cup Coffee Company.

If you want to check out its coffee and do some good at the same time, head on to 16743 Aurora Ave N.

The silent auction will be held from 4-6.30 p.m on March 2.
