ASG in Review – March 17, 2017

Mini Grants

SCCANS (Shoreline Community College Association of Nursing Students)

Requested: $203
Granted: $203

SCCANS requested this mini grant to be combined with their current budget of $281 to cover the cost of the graduation ceremonies for students in 6-quarter and 10-quarter programs. This request was granted with less deliberation than the ASG has given any mini grant request in over a month, due to its modest size and legitimacy. After a short presentation, Will Pierce, co-president of SCCANS, was given the full amount requested, and then congratulated on his and his peers’ graduation.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America)

Requested: $9,465.40
Granted: $9,465.40

On April 18, 20 DECA students will be going on a six-day trip to Anaheim, Calif., for the International Career Development Conference.
Of the 20 students going to the conference, four are also on the ASG. All members of the ASG, including those who will benefit from the money being requested, voted to grant the money requested.

The ASG voted to approve the election rules for the 2017-2018 student body president election. The updated rules were passed with Nida Haque, the policy and procedure officer, abstaining from the vote. She didn’t vote due to a conflict of interest; Haque is running for student body president.
