Inktober Drawing Event

Oct. 25; 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Rm. 2068

For a decade, “Inktober” has inspired artists everywhere by challenging them to share one ink drawing per day throughout October — and on Oct. 25, everyone is welcome to join this Inktober-inspired drawing event hosted by the SCC Art Club. Not sure what to bring? Not a problem: Free materials will be provided for all attendees.

NaNoWriMo Kick-Off Party

Oct. 31; 10 p.m.-2 a.m., Ray W. Howard Library

Love to write? No plans on Halloween? The fourth-annual National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Kick-Off Party is back and better than ever, with plans to keep the festivities running late into the night.

Set against the brand-new backdrop of the Residence Hall, costumes are encouraged but not required.

NaNoWriMo is a national challenge dedicated to writing a 50,000-word novel across the span of November. On this night, writing will commence at the stroke of midnight after a lively evening of activities, games and prizes.

Don’t forget your laptop — there will be a giveaway to the first person who hits the word count of 1667 (the daily suggested goal once November hits).

And that’s not all: By popular demand, SCC’s Ray W. Howard library will be open until 9:30 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. all November long in celebration of NaNoWriMo and writers everywhere.

SCC Halloween Party

Nov. 1; 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Main Dining Room (PUB)

Halloween is over, but the celebration doesn’t have to end — that’s why the PUB is hosting one last party to wrap up the fun. Perfect for partygoers everywhere, this fall extravaganza will allow you to round out the season of scares and ring in the month of November.

Correction: An earlier version of this page stated the incorrect location for the NaNoWriMo Kick-Off Party. It is hosted in the Ray W. Howard Library, not the Residence Hall.
