A woman was assaulted in SCC’s Visitor Parking Lot on Friday, April 8, around 1:35 PM.
The victim, who was not a student or faculty member, was repeatedly punched in the face by multiple assailants after harassing a group of students. The assault left her face bruised and bloody. It is unclear whether or not the assailants were students, or how many assailants there were. Security has reported that the assailants were women.
The woman, who was intoxicated, approached students at the shuttle bus stop and asked them for cigarettes. She then began swearing at them and calling them bitches when they said they didn’t have any, following them onto the shuttle and then off of the shuttle.
The Director of Security says she calmed the woman down and helped her wipe the blood off of her face, while attempting to get a statement from her. Shoreline Police reported that the woman threatened to sue police before getting on a bus and riding away.
None of the parties involved have been identified, and security is still seeking statements. Security refuses to release a full report of the incident, as it is still under investigation.
Students had no way of knowing that the incident had occurred until April 19 at 9:46 PM, over a week and a half later, when the crime log was updated to show crimes from April 2016. Prior to that, the crime log was showing crimes from April 2015, due to a miscommunication between Campus Security and the PIO.
In other news, an individual was spotted pointing a handgun at another person in the theater parking lot on Tuesday, April 12. Shoreline police arrested the person on campus on Thursday, April 21. At the time of the arrest, the individual was in possession of a handgun. Security has encouraged anyone with questions to contact them at 206-546-4633.
The Ebbtide reached out to security through the number provided for more information on this incident. Security responded by saying that this was the extent of their public statement.
